Later, the Great Church became the symbol of the town, and at the same time it became the symbol of the Hungarian Calvinicism. Nowadays it is more and more mentioned as a university city. The education of Debrecen has a tradition, which began centuries ago. Nowadays the University of Debrecen has over 20000 students, 13 faculties, 2 independent institutes and 20 doctor’s school, and it had become one of the biggest higher education institute of the country. The Lajos Kossuth Student hostels of Debrecen are situated in the heart of the Great Forest next to the main building of the University. The Thermal Bath and the Mediterranean Pleasure Baths can be approchable within a few minutes walking, and you can get to the city centre quickly and easily by tram. Sights, programs in Debrecen Debrecen is often called the ’Calvinist Rome”.
